Pay for what you use
If nothing is ever bought on your site, you're paying for a checkout nobody uses. A business owner on r/smallbusiness asks exactly this, and most answers point to a simpler website.
If nothing is bought on your site, you don't need a store. Keep the catalogue, drop three quarters of the bill, and own the code.
Based on each company's public pages and docs, November 2026. A check means it does the job, a dash that it does so partly or for an extra fee, and a cross that it doesn't, or that we couldn't find it.

The median Shopify page weighs 4,015 KB, the heaviest on our table, and sends 2,288 KB of JavaScript. A store has reasons. A catalogue doesn't: the real Atelier201 sites we measured weigh up to 351 KB and send 8 KB.
Competitors: HTTP Archive medians, September 2026. Atelier201: three Lighthouse mobile runs on each of two real sites, November 5, 2026, with the heavier site's weight. On real visits, 76.2% of Shopify sites pass Core Web Vitals on mobile.

A deposit or a single product can use a Stripe payment link or an embedded checkout on a page. Stripe handles the payment, and you don't need a store for it.
Keep your product photos and descriptions. Your agent imports them from Shopify's CSV export as a list, with one page per product and an enquiry button.

I don't actually take payments or sell products directly through the website.
Between the plan itself, apps for basic stuff that should probably be included by default, and transaction fees on top of everything, I'm easily paying $250-300 a month.
If you sell a depth of common things (products with color and size variations), it's an amazing platform for you.
Shopify exports products as CSV, which is what our import takes. Turning that into a catalogue with an enquiry button is a short job for an agent.
