Atelier201 vs Jimdo

No page limit, your own AI, and a site you can take with you, for €90 a year. Jimdo stops at 10 pages on Start and asks €50 a month for unlimited.

Choose Atelier201 if

  • Your site has more than 10 pages, or it will.
  • You don't want to pay €600 a year for unlimited pages.
  • You want to own your code and be able to leave.
  • You already use Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini and want it to build the site.
  • You want a full history, with one-click rollback.
  • You need a second language built in, not a widget.

Stay on Jimdo if

  • You run bookings, invoices and payments from one Jimdo account.
  • You'll never need more than 10 pages.

Based on each company's public pages and docs, November 2026. A check means it does the job, a dash that it does so partly or for an extra fee, and a cross that it doesn't, or that we couldn't find it.

Five times lighter than the median Jimdo page

The median Jimdo page weighs 1,737 KB and scores 62 for Lighthouse performance on mobile. The real Atelier201 sites we measured weigh up to 351 KB, send 8 KB of JavaScript and score 100.

Where the numbers come from

Competitors: HTTP Archive medians, September 2026. Atelier201: three Lighthouse mobile runs on each of two real sites, November 5, 2026, with the heavier site's weight. On real visits, 93.8% of Jimdo sites pass Core Web Vitals on mobile.

Three differences that matter

More pages don't cost more

Jimdo's Start plan stops at 10 pages, Grow and Complete at 50, and unlimited pages cost €50 a month. On Atelier201 there's one plan and no page limit, so a blog or a page per service never moves you up.

You can take the site with you

We found no way to export a Jimdo site. An Atelier201 site is a standard Astro project in its own Git repository: download it today and host it anywhere.

Bring the AI you already pay for

Jimdo's Companion AI is included, at 25 messages a day, and it works inside Jimdo. On Atelier201 your own Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini can create, edit and prepare the whole site, and its calls cost nothing.

Moving from Jimdo

We found no Jimdo site export, so your agent or our assistant rebuilds the site from your public pages. It's usually a short job, and the new site gets its own design.

Changing your hours is a form field, on a site with no page limit. Made-up data.

What comes across

  • Your text and photos, read from your live pages
  • Your domain: Jimdo says you can transfer it out any time
  • Old addresses, through redirects
  • Your contact form, as an embedded form

What doesn't

  • Bookings, invoices and payment links
  • Your Jimdo shop
  • Your contact list, unless you export it first

Questions

How many pages can a Jimdo site have?

On Jimdo's current plans: 5 on Free, 10 on Start, 50 on Grow and Complete, and unlimited only on the Unlimited plan at €50 a month on a 12-month term. Older Jimdo Creator plans work differently. Atelier201 has one plan with no page limit, up to 1 GB of pages and code.

How much does Jimdo cost?

Start costs €18 a month, or €12 a month on a 12-month term, which is €144 a year with VAT, for up to 10 pages. Grow costs €240 a year, Complete €348 and Unlimited €600. Atelier201 costs €9 a month or €90 a year before VAT, with no page limit.

Can I export my Jimdo site?

We couldn't find a site export in Jimdo's pricing or plan pages, so moving usually means rebuilding from your public pages. On Atelier201 you can pull or export the whole project at any time, on any plan.

Is Jimdo fast?

On real visits, yes: 93.8% of Jimdo sites pass Core Web Vitals on mobile, the best figure among the tools we looked at. In the lab, its median page weighs 1,737 KB and scores 62 on Lighthouse. The real Atelier201 sites we measured weigh up to 351 KB and score 100.

Does Jimdo charge for AI?

No. Companion AI is included on every plan, with 25 messages a day and no credits to buy. It works inside Jimdo, and we found no official MCP server for connecting your own agent. On Atelier201 your own agent does the work through MCP, the CLI or the REST API, at no charge.

Can Atelier201 take bookings and send invoices?

Not by itself. You can embed a booking tool such as Calendly, and use your own invoicing software. If you want bookings, invoices and payments in one account, Jimdo does that well.

Is Atelier201 a good Jimdo alternative for SEO and AI search?

Every Atelier201 site is static HTML built with Astro, served from Cloudflare's network, with an XML sitemap, hreflang, JSON-LD structured data, llms.txt and a Markdown copy of every page. That makes it easy for Google, ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and other answer engines to read and cite, which is what generative engine optimization (GEO) and answer engine optimization (AEO) are about.

Can I build my website with Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini?

Yes. Connect your own AI agent, such as Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Cursor or Codex, through the MCP server, the CLI or the REST API. It can create the site, edit pages and content, run a build and prepare publishing. Those calls cost nothing on Atelier201, so you don't pay for AI twice. People without an agent can use the built-in assistant.

Do I own my website and its code?

Yes. Each site is a standard Astro project in its own Git repository. You can pull it with the CLI or export code, content and media at any time, on any plan, then run npm ci and npm run build and host it anywhere. There is no vendor lock-in.
