# Delete a site

Requires `sites:publish` and a workspace admin. It answers `202`: the deletion finishes within minutes.

This cannot be undone. [Export the project](/docs/api/media/export) first if you may need it.

Send `confirm_name`, the site's name or slug, to have the server check it is the site you mean: a different value is refused with `invalid_parameter`. With `confirm_name`, a published site is refused with `409 conflict` (`details.reason` `site_published`) unless `delete_published` is `true`: unpublish it first, or say you mean it. The CLI and the MCP tool `delete_site` always send both checks.

- `site_id` (`string`, required): The site's id, or its slug (the address before .atelier201.page).

## Query parameters

- `confirm_name` (`string`, length: `1–200 chars`): The site's name (or slug), typed back: proves this is the site meant. Deleting cannot be undone.
- `delete_published` (`boolean`): Required, as true, to delete a site that is published: it goes offline for every visitor at once. Otherwise unpublish it first.
