# Search free stock photos and videos

Requires `sites:read`. Costs no credits and stores nothing.

Each result has its `provider`, its `id`, its size, a description, its author and a `preview_url`. The preview is for looking at the result only: a site never links to it. [Import](/docs/api/media/stock-import) the one you choose, and it is copied into the site's media.

`providers` says which libraries can be searched now, for example `{ "pixabay": "available" }`. [List the models](/docs/api/media/models) gives the same before any search. Naming a library that is unavailable is refused with `service_unavailable`, its name in `details.provider` and the available ones in `details.providers`.

English queries return the most results. Results come from Pixabay, the only library for now; `provider` is always `pixabay`. Answers are cached for a day.

At most 30 searches and imports a minute per workspace. Above that, and when the library itself is busy (one quota for all of Atelier201), the answer is `429 rate_limited` with how long to wait in `Retry-After` and in `details.retry_after_seconds`: wait that long, then try again.

- `site_id` (`string`, required): The site's id, or its slug (the address before .atelier201.page).

## Query parameters

- `query` (`string`, required, length: `1–100 chars`): What to look for. English gives the most results.
- `kind` (`enum<string>`, one of: `image, video`): image (default) or video.
- `orientation` (`enum<string>`, one of: `landscape, portrait, square`)
- `provider` (`enum<string>`, one of: `pixabay`): The library. Pixabay is the only one for now, and the default.
- `per_page` (`integer`, range: `1–30`)
- `page` (`integer`, range: `1–50`)
- `locale` (`string`, length: `≤ 10 chars`): The query's language, e.g. fr-FR.
